Airicka Pheonix

I’d like to welcome Airicka Pheonix.  Ever heard of her?  She is going to be HUGE in the Indie world!!  How do I know?  All my favorites have the ability to make me laugh, their words make me want to see what’s on the next page and they're genuinely fun to chat with.  I first met Airicka on twitter and she is AWESOME!  Her answers to these questions may make you an instant fan, too!!  TOUCHING SMOKE, her first book, comes out in July 2012 and I intend to be her first sale!!  I hope you’ll add her to your TBR and race me to be in her fan club!

   1.      What do you look for in the books you read?

Romance! I have a very hard time getting into a book that doesn’t have some small key of romance, even if it’s so small you have to cock your head and squint.

   2.   Who is your favorite author? Favorite book?

Oh my goodness. I think that is quite possibly the hardest question in the world to answer, because I have been so lucky to have met so many amazing authors just on Twitter alone and so many authors that I admire and adore. But I’ll try to give a few off the top of my head: Charlotte Abel (The Channie Series), Nancy Straight (The Destiny Series), Susanne Collins (The Hunger Games), J.K Rowling (Harry Potter Series), Tahereh Mafi (Shatter Me), Summer Day (Pride & Princesses), Kendare Blake (Anna Series), Emma Byford (The Fusion Series), Clare Marshall (Within), Jack D Albrecht Jr. & Ashley Delay (Osric’s Wand), Amy B. Bartol (The Premonition Series). There are probably about a thousand more, but I better stop there. lol.

3.      What is the best part about being an author?

The opportunity to save my sanity; there are so many ideas, characters and voices in my head that the only way to keep from losing my mind is to write. So that’s always a plus. But also, that amazing feeling all authors get the first time — the hundredth time, because there’s no way that can get old — they see their name on the back of that cover.

      4.      What is the worst part about being an author?

I think no matter if you’re a seasoned author or just starting out, no matter if you’ve sold a billion copies or one, there is only one thing that could make any author cringe: criticism. The not knowing whether your book will be accepted or accepted well probably grips most authors in cold terror.

     5.      What do you want others to know about you?

That I always try to respond to comments and I love getting every one of them. I started writing in the third grade when my teacher asked us to make up a story with pictures. I rewrote Beauty and the Beast. I have a serious obsession with chocolate and shoes. I refuse to eat the red Smarties, last or otherwise. My kids are the health nuts in the family. My favorite food is steak. I’m a closet nail bitter and in my spare time, I’m in one of my kid’s heads, playing pirate or taking over an alien planet. Oh, and the most important, I’m a joke cracker and I wear sarcasm the way some women wear perfume. ;-)

 6.      What is the last book you read?

Osric’s Wand by Jack D Albrecht Jr. & Ashley Delay. (AMAZING!)

      7.      Where do you see yourself in 1, 5 and 10 years?

I see myself older, wiser and still writing.

8.      Who is your favorite Book Blogger?

I love my home girl Chelsebells http://abellestales.blogspot.ca/ -- She’s my book mate! <3 But I have so many bloggers that deserve so much thanks for everything they did to help promote and support Touching Smoke. I know without their help, I would still be floundering around like a chicken without a head. To just name a few:

And so many others. For a more thorough list, check out my Twitter or website. I will be adding a more thorough list there.

      9.      What project are you working on now?

I’m waiting for TOUCHING SMOKE (Touch Series Book 1) to be released, but while that is happening, I am putting the final touches on TOUCHING FIRE (Touch Series Book 2) and starting on TOUCHING AMBERS (Touch Series Book 3) and TOUCHING ASH (Touch Series Book 4).

     10.  If you could meet anyone (alive or dead) at Starbucks for a cup of White Mocha Latte, who would it be?

I actually have to think about this one. There are so many people… hmmm… I think Stephen King, because that man is a twisted genius. lol.
